At the weekend I had friends over for dinner and the conversation turned to wine, funnily enough. However, it wasn't about the wine necessarily so much as the different preferences of the men and women at the table regarding the wine.

We were enjoying a fabulous Beef Bourgignon from a tried and tested Delia Smith recipe, and so the perfect wine to enjoy with this dish was naturally a pinot noir. The ‘reduced to clear’ pottle of pâté and a seriously cheap loaf of real bread, which came to five bucks all together, demanded the purchase of some wine.
