There are some really clever and famous wine quotations out there, so let's share some. I will start with a "tongue-in-cheek" quote - not sure who said it but it brings a smile to my face:
"Men are like a fine wine. They all start out like grapes, and it's our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you'd like to have dinner with"
Another one I like is the Spanish Proverb "With wine and hope, anything is possible".

Great idea, as someone once said there is more philosophy in a bottle of wine than in all the books!
I like this one:
What is better than to sit at the end of the day and drink wine with friends, or substitutes for friends?
James Joyce - 20th Century writer and poet

He who loves not wine, women and song remains a fool his whole life long.

"I like to think about what was going on the year the grapes were growing; how the sun was shining; if it rained. I like to think about all the people who tended and picked the grapes. And if it's an old wine, how many of them must be dead by now. I like how wine continues to evolve, like if I opened a bottle of wine today it would taste different than if I'd opened it on any other day, because a bottle of wine is actually alive. And it's constantly evolving and gaining complexity. That is, until it peaks, like your '61. And then it begins its steady, inevitable decline."

Not a wine quote, but a life quote and since lovewine is about people who love with with life, thought was ok:
Life loves to be taken by the lapel and told: "I'm with you kid. Let's go." Maya Angelou

Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends, worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you, a cat, a dog, and a pipe or two, enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink; for thirst is a dangerous thing.

“Wine is really an expression of a place on the planet. It really reminded me of the place — not just the flavour, but the soils, the leaves decaying in the fall, the stream flowing by. I was just possessed by it. Our job as winemakers is to artistically interpret a landscape through this liquid. I’d been working as an ecologist for years. This was a chance to become an artist.” — Eric Glomski

The correct way to treat a good wine... Open the bottle to allow it to breathe. If it does not look like it's breathing, give it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Great thread!!
Here's one of my favourites....
When
Lily Bollinger was asked "When do you drink champagne?", she replied:
"I only drink champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad.
Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am.
Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty."

"Men are like a fine wine. They all start out like grapes, and it's our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you'd like to have dinner with"
Another one I like is the Spanish Proverb "With wine and hope, anything is possible".
The correct way to treat a good wine... Open the bottle to allow it to breathe. If it does not look like it's breathing, give it mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
cjmills, thanks for posting in
Wine Quotes forum. Have tidied up the font for you and just for future refrence, if you copy and paste from another source, you need to clear the formatting or at least use the "paste plain text option" just to the right of the clipboard with the W on it in the tool bar. Love to hear more words of vinspiration as and when you find them. Cheers.

There are some really clever and famous wine quotations out there, so let's share some. I will start with a "tongue-in-cheek" quote - not sure who said it but it brings a smile to my face:
