If you get the chance to visit Pernod Ricard at Auckland's viaduct take it. Very knowledgeable wine experts, great tasting facilities and incredible view.
Enjoyed the new Lindauer Savignon and comparing savignons from the Marlborough region.

Jeap, are the tastings open to the public or is it invite only? If you have additional info, let us know. Keen to hear about the different Savs from Marlborough? What were the stand outs?

It isn't open to the public but they do wine tasting's externally and I'll find out more about what happens internally if I can.
They have great tasting notes

The Savignon's we tasted were:
Triple Bank Awatere
Boundary Raupara Road
Stoneleigh
Montana
Sorry I can't remember the years.
What was great about only tasting Savignon's was to compare how different they were, same region vineyard to vineyard and to the generic (as such) Montana Savignon (the blend).
I love wine and all of these had their place in my week :) depending on mood and situation ;).

jeap, I guess you can get these all at supermarket can you do you know? Can you remember how much they were? Am keen to try SB from different regions and may be fun if you said this is good range to try. Me too lovewine and one for every mood and for every occasion. Do you think you drink different by season too? Sometime think would be great to have a chilled red you know for summer, guess why rose has been popular maybe?

Can I suggest you try a
Central Otago Sauvignon, they really are quite different to the Marlborough varities with a unique and distinctive flavour. This is not to say that
Marlborough doesn't produce a world-class Sauvignon but just that it is interesting to try a different region that you may not expect to produce a quality Sauvignon Blanc.
Coal Pit produce a small quantity of Sauvignon Blanc on our single-vineyard and this is very popular at restaurants and bars in Queenstown. Our 2007 vintage sold out and was a Gold Medal winner at the San Francisco International Wine Show.

I went to a hens night last year that kicked off with wine tasting in a friends garden. Glengarry ran the tasting and the guys wine knowledge was brilliant and tailored to a diverse audience. Heaps of fun, learnt a lot and highly recommended!

Pleased that the subject of Tastings has been raised. Both here, and in Aus recently, I have been into wine.bottle stores where a young lady has been stood at a podium with a wine tasting. BUT no matter how many times I stroll past I am never invited to sample. And I don't like to ask or help myself. Am I missing something here? Is there perhaps a law (plenty of them in NZ) that precludes these reps actually asking you to partake?
